Personal Mythologies: Picasso in the 1940s and 50s

Two Picasso paintings on loan to the Currier make their public debut as part of a small, new exhibition exploring the intersections of Picasso’s personal life and artistic career.

Category: Picasso, Paintings, Artist Lives

A city view

Recent Currier visitors enjoy seeing two works by Pablo Picasso on view to the public for the very first time: L'Homme au béret basque and The Two Children.

About the show: At the Currier Museum of Art, you can now make a personal connection with not just one work by Picasso, but three. On loan to the Currier through the end of October, L'Homme au béret basque and The Two Children are on view at a public institution for the first time.

Along with the gem from the Currier collection, Woman Seated in a Chair, the works on loan anchor a new exhibition exploring the intersections of Picasso’s personal life and artistic career, Personal Mythologies: Picasso in the 1940s and 50s.

For visitors, this means a rare opportunity to see these three works side by side. Together, they tell a story of a period of profound change, both for the world and the artist.
