Time travel to 17th- and 18th-century Florence, Italy
Estimated Time: One Hour
This fall, the most important collection of Florentine Baroque art outside of Italy makes its New England premiere at the Currier. Aptly called Florentine Baroque, the exhibition features more than 40 paintings and sculptures by followers of Michelangelo inspired by the rise of theater and opera in 17th- and 18th-century Florence, Italy. Look for visuals from the stage – from gallant gestures to detailed costumes – transforming how Florentine masters evoked biblical and mythological narratives.

Heard about the benefits of slow looking and curious about getting started? The Currier offers 15-minute Looking Together sessions at 11 AM and noon every Saturday and Sunday. Our expert guides facilitate slow looking at a single work of art. Take a deep breath, look closely, and engage with art in a new way. It’s all the benefits of slow looking, but in a snack-size format.

Looking Together sessions take place at 11 AM and noon on Saturday and Sunday.
They are fifteen minutes, guide facilitated and included with museum admission.
