The American Dream: Play Reading and Discussion
2 p.m. Adult Programs
Theatre KAPOW, named Best Contemporary Theatre in New Hampshire by the editors of New Hampshire Magazine, will present a play reading of The American Dream, by Edward Albee (three-time Pulitzer Prize winner and 2011 recipient of the Edward MacDowell Medal), which explores not only the shortcomings of the American Dream but also the American family's status quo. A brief, post-performance discussion with Dr. Meg Cronin, professor of english at St. Anselm College and Nina Bozicnik, Assistant Curator, will provide guests a chance to reflect on the play and the themes related to special exhibition Signs from the Sixties: Robert Indiana’s “Decade”. Robert Indiana cites his attending the original production of the play in 1961 as influencing his work of the same name. Supported in part by the New Hampshire Humanities Council.
