Africa Interweave Family Day

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Family Fun

Enjoy a day at the museum as a family exploring the special exhibition, Africa Interweave: Textile Diasporas. In addition to the activities listed below, you can enjoy lunch in our Winter Garden Café, which will include an African inspired dish. Also, families are invited to explore our Discovery Gallery and Gallery Guides.

  • 10 a.m. -  1 p.m.: Kente Paper Weaving
  • 10:30 and 11 a.m.: Storytime
  • 11:30 a.m.: Family Tour
  • 1-2 p.m.: Songweaver Drummers performance (description below)

Lindsey and Grace Schust, percussion faculty at Concord Community Music School and co-directors of the Songweaver Drummers, will lead an interactive performance with live drumming and singing. There will be a mini performance with Lindsey, Grace and the Songweaver Drummers. Lindsey and Grace will teach the basics of the traditional Mande Harvest Rhythm “Kuku.” A limited number of drums will be provided by Timbre Drums. No previous experience necessary. A fun time for all ages!
